Sublimation and HTV Transfer Instructions

Sublimation Transfers

Recommended Application Instructions for Clothing:

  • Preheat your garment for 3-5 seconds at 385° F.
  • Place butcher paper in between garment layers (i.e. inside shirt).
  • Place transfer, image side down, onto garment. Then, place butcher paper on top.
  • Press at 385° F for 50 seconds with medium pressure.

 Helpful Tips/Tricks:

  • It is important to note that every heat press is different and the time/temp can differ per press and per item.
  • A home iron or easy press is not recommended for these transfers due to possible ghosting.
  • For other substrates (mugs/ornaments), I recommend following the blank seller's suggested time and temperature settings.
  • Use a sheet of butcher paper inside the shirt and on top of the design. Use a fresh sheet of butcher paper for every press in the case that the colors bleed onto the butcher paper. Do not use Teflon paper.
  • I recommend cutting/tearing the transfer as close as possible to the design to help reduce the chance of transfer sheet marks.
  • Using heat tape is great for keeping the transfer in place and helps prevents ghosting.
  • Using a lint roller over the item before pressing will remove lint and prevent blue marks.

Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)

Recommended Application Instructions for Clothing (Once Masked):

  • Preheat garment for 3-5 seconds at 315° F.
  • Put transfer onto garment (one backing is removed). Image needs to be right side up.
  • Press at 315° F for 15 seconds with medium/firm pressure.
  • Remove transfer sheet/masking tape while hot, but peel slowly.

    Helpful Tips/Tricks:

    • It is important to note that every heat press is different and the time/temperature can differ per press and per item. A home iron or easy press is not recommended for these transfers due to inconsistences and for the longevity of the print.
    • Do not apply any heat to the transfer until the transfer tape is applied, backing removed, and it’s ready to be applied to the garment.
    • After pressing, when removing the transfer tape if some of the transfer didn’t adhere, lay the transfer tape back down and repress for 15 seconds at 315° F. If that still does not work, try increasing your pressure and/or temperature as each press varies. You may also need a pressing pillow for the proper pressure.
    • Care Instructions: Wait 24 hours before washing. Wash inside out using mild detergent. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean. Tumble dry low or hang to dry.

There are two (2) sample transfers included in your package to help with testing prior to using your actual transfers. Two sunflowers if ordering HTV or two butterflies if ordering sublimation.
